A new book entitled; Bishop Bouldering by Willis Young and Mick Ryan [Wolverine
Publishing; (2007)] says "Without doubt, Bishop is located in one of
the best environments for outdoor sports and adventure in North
America." Click the links to the left to see more!
Autumn is our favorite season! Trees are ablaze in hues of orange, yellow, gold
and crimson. Enjoy warm, sunny days and mild evenings. There's a hint of winter
in the air, but summer won't quite let go.
The Bishop area offers a remarkable
contrast of fall color. From majestic cottonwood trees in the Owens Valley,
to quaking aspens draping the high country, you'll be delighted by the range
of color at various elevations. Hues of gold mixed with some red begin to show
in the higher elevations of Bishop Creek Canyon (South Lake, Lake Sabrina) in
early September and typically reach their peak during the first week of October.
Along
the Owens Valley floor, the colors appear later, generally from late September
through early November. Color change is very dependent on temperature and forecasting
is difficult. We encourage you to revisit this page often during the season to
get the most current area fall color information.

Bishop Creek Canyon Fall Color update:
11/9/07
The Fall color show is over now in the entire Eastern Sierra region. During a
trip from Bishop to Carson City the other day, the only place I saw any yellow
leaves was at Topaz Lake on the California/Nevada border. But even that will be
gone in a few days.
A number of visitors that came and photographed the Bishop area during the peak
of color around the first week of October sent us some of their photos and we
would like to share the best of these with you (see photos below). -Mike
