Preserving Land with a Conservation Easement -Aimed at professionals, landowners, and others with a special interest in the nuts and bolts of creating a conservation easement, the workshop will cover the financial and legal implications of this popular land conservation tool.  Presenters James L. Leet and Ann Taylor Schwing are attorneys specializing in structuring conservation easements and the resulting tax implications of using this tool.  The workshop runs from 9AM to Noon at Inyo Mono Title Co. at 873 N. Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care's 2nd Annual "Family Fun Day".  May 4th from 11-3 at Brown's Town Campground - south side of town on 395.This year's theme is "Everything's Ducky!"  Please come and enjoy our fundraising event.  Proceeds will go toward our new Water Bird Enclosure and the care for the hundreds of birds and small mammals we care for each year.  There will be great raffle items (donated by Double Eagle Spa & Resort, Mammoth Mountain, Bishop Country Club, Keoughs Hot Springs and Ray Turner, window washer!) along with a BBQ (catered by the "Glass Onion"), live music (by Milo & Chris), Kids activities (Bouncy House, face painting, "Toy" the miniature horse with cart, games...), educational displays and demo's (Angie Tapley will demo how domestic animals can leave wildlife alone, hawks, and more).  For more information please call 872-1487.

Hailing from Ghana, West Africa, the Kusun Ensemble will perform dance to their unique style of music they dub "nokoko", a combination of traditional sounds, hilife and African jazz. The have been touring Ghana, Australia, Canada, the UK and the US, teaching drumming and dance, and performing their unique style of Ghanaian music. Approximately 300 contestants will compete in the State Finals. The top four contestants at the State Finals, in each event, then qualify for the worlds largest rodeo, the National High School Finals Rodeo that will be held this year in Farmington , New Mexico . Benton Hot Springs Ranch with Eastern Sierra Land Trust and the California Native Plant Society -Enjoy the summer solstice and the wonders of a thriving alkali meadow in a new conservation easement.  Karen Ferrell-Ingram and photographer Stephen Ingram will lead a walk to see the rare Calochortus excavatus, Inyo County star tulip, in bloom, along with other alkali meadow flowers.  Well also take a look at the birds and other wildlife in this normally off-limits meadow and wetlands area.  The trip is sponsored by the ESLT and landowner, Bill Bramlette and CNPS.  Meet in Benton at the intersection of HWY 6 and SR 120 at 9 am.  To carpool from Bishop Meet at the Y, HWY 6 and Wye Rd. at 8 am.
