PAYA: The Water Story of the Paiute

January 23, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Event Navigation

The Untold Story of America’s Longest Lived Water War.

This film documents the history of Paiute native Americans who constructed and managed 60 miles of intricate irrigation systems in Owens Valley for millennia long before LA secured its largest source of water through modern engineering a century ago.

“Every month people who work, play, dream, scheme in the environment meet up at informal sessions known as Green Drinks International, with meetings across the globe in many cities. These events are unstructured, yet many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, created business agreements, and had moments of serendipity. It’s a force for the good and we’d like to help it spread.”
