Whether you’re a long-time fan of a specific genre or a curious listener\, the festival promises a compelling soundtrack for your weekend. \nPerformers & Schedule \nExperiencing the Beauty of Millpond Recreation Area\nThe festival’s magic begins with its location: the Millpond Recreation Area. Framed by the dramatic\, high-desert peaks of the Sierra Nevada\, the tranquil pond and surrounding landscape create a beautiful\, immersive atmosphere. Mature cottonwood and willow trees offer shade and a touch of vibrant green\, while the open\, grassy spaces provide a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the shows. The natural amphitheater-like setting ensures excellent views and acoustics\, allowing every note to resonate perfectly. It’s a place where you can lay back on a blanket\, feel the soft breeze\, and let the music wash over you\, all with a million-dollar mountain vista as your backdrop. Or dance! The grassy dance area in front of the stage is where Bishop locals celebrate the music with joy and abandon. This scenic locale is more than just a venue; it’s an essential part of the Millpond experience. \nAbout Millpond \nServices and Amenities On-Site\nThe festival is designed for attendee comfort\, with thoughtful amenities that make for a seamless and enjoyable weekend. The campground offers a vibrant\, communal experience where you can swap stories and songs with fellow festival-goers. It’s an ideal way to wake up to the mountain air and the anticipation of another day of music. As a bonus\, Bishop’s high desert location and minimal light pollution create an exceptional night sky for stargazing\, offering a spectacular celestial show after the final set. Keep in mind that camping spaces\, including both dry camping and sites with hookups\, are limited and typically sell out. It is essential to reserve your spot as early as possible. \nNight Sky \nEmbracing the Seasonal Change: Weather and Fall Colors\nThe weather during the transition from summer to fall can be wonderfully unpredictable in the Eastern Sierra. Expect warm\, sunny days and crisp\, cool evenings\, so layering your clothing is key. This time of year also ushers in the possibility of seeing spectacular fall colors. While timing is never guaranteed\, the foliage often begins to turn in the high mountain canyons first\, with brilliant yellows and oranges illuminating the aspen groves. It’s a fleeting natural spectacle that adds an extra layer of beauty to an already unforgettable festival weekend. \nFall Colors \n

SUMMARY:Laws Railroad Express
DESCRIPTION:A magical family fun day with train rides\, holiday crafts\, refreshments and visits with Santa Claus. \nLong ago\, a princess came through in this valley. She was made from steel and she was known as The Slim Princess. This princess was a narrow-gauge railway and she ran from Carson City\, Nevada\, to Keeler\, a bustling mining town on the shores of the now-dry Owens Lake. \nThe railway line was completely abandoned by 1960 and the tracks removed\, but the story of her grand adventure remains forever enshrined at Laws Railroad Museum. The history of this princess and the many other railways of the area\, with their magnificent engines and carriages\, are preserved and protected on this extensive heritage site. \nLaws Railroad Museum is a window to our past; it’s where we might experience time travel\, back to the California gold rush of the late 1800s. The best time-travel day of the year happens on Saturday\, December 12th this year. It is the Railroad Express and\, just like in days gone by\, it will happen come rain\, snow\, or shine! \nDrink hot cocoa and ride a horse-drawn wagon down caroling lane. Whisper secrets and wishes in Santa’s ear. Visit with Smokey Bear and learn about protecting the forests. Eat yummy s’mores\, do arts and crafts and receive a free book from Altrusa. Get a golden ticket and light up a child’s face with joy and wonder. It’s a ticket to ride the Railroad Express with Santa’s elves and a merry band of Christmas carolers. It’s a ride to the past and back to the present\, and it’s as magical as it sounds. \nNote: Allow at least two hours to enjoy all of the activities. Last train ride at 2pm. \n
