SUMMARY:Drew Wickman: Getting Here\, A Retrospective Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Inyo Council for the Arts (ICA) presents Drew Wickman: Getting Here\, a Solo Retrospective Art Exhibition.\nBISHOP\, CA — The Inyo Council for the Arts (ICA) is proud to announce Drew Wickman: Getting Here\, a solo retrospective art exhibition celebrating the expansive career of local artist Drew Wickman. The exhibition will open with a public reception on Saturday\, April 11\, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the ICA gallery in Bishop and will run through Tuesday\, May 26\, 2026.\nThis is the first solo retrospective in many years at ICA\, offering the community a comprehensive look at the evolution of a craft refined over more than fifty years. Drew Wickman: Getting Here traces Wickman’s creative journey\, beginning with his early studies at the University of Nevada\, Las Vegas\, where he received a BFA in Ceramics and Art History in 1967\, to his decades spent as a leader of the Eastern Sierra arts scene.\n“The first artwork I clearly remember making was when I was around five years old. It was a birthday cake drawing contest with my mother\,” Wickman recalls. “My drawing was terrible. This contest inspired me to improve my drawing skills and I think\, possibly\, I have.”\nSince moving to Inyo County in 1974\, Wickman has worked as a dedicated potter and educator\, teaching art in public schools\, community colleges\, and private studios. Alongside his wife Judy\, Wickman has owned two art galleries and continues to produce work from their home studio in Lone Pine\, CA.\nWickman’s work is characterized by a sophisticated blending of local native materials with commercial elements\, utilizing various firing and decorating methods. His aesthetic is deeply informed by the stark beauty of the High Desert\, the traditional techniques of Japanese pottery\, and the quietude of Zen Buddhist philosophy.\n“We are incredibly honored to host Drew’s first retrospective\,” says Sharon Freilich\, Executive Director of the ICA. “His work is a reflection of the Eastern Sierra itself. The show is exposed\, intentional\, and deeply rooted in the landscape. Seeing the full arc of his career in one space is a gift to our community.”\nEXHIBITION DETAILS\nExhibition Title: Drew Wickman: Getting Here Opening Reception: Saturday\, April 11 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Location: ICA Gallery\, 150 Willow Street\, Bishop\, CA Closing Date: Tuesday\, May 26 Admission: Free and open to the public.\nArtist Program: An artist program featuring Drew Wickman will be held on Sunday\, 5/3 from 1-2:30 PM. The event is free and open to the public.\n2\nAbout Inyo Council for the Arts (ICA): The Inyo Council for the Arts is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the arts in Inyo County. Through exhibitions\, community events\, and educational programming\, ICA serves as a vital resource for local artists and a hub for engagement through the arts. SUMMARY:Fishmas Boat Inspections
DESCRIPTION:All boats entering Crowley Lake will be inspected to keep our waterways safe from the spread of invasive quagga mussels. Boats showing signs of contamination\, or found to contain any water or debris that could harbor mussels\, will not be allowed to launch into Crowley Lake. Boats that have tags from last season do not need to be re-inspected as long as the original tag has not been broken or tampered with. \nVisit the Crowley Lake Fish Camp website or Facebook page for the latest information on boat launches and available services. \nFishmas is sooooon! Eastern Sierra Trout Opener is Saturday\, April 25th.\nInvasive Golden Mussel !\nThe discovery of these new golden mussels presents threats to more local waters than the Quaggas and Zebras because they need less calcium in the water and can survive higher and lower temps. Bottom line\, we need your help to spread the word to keep the invasive species from spreading into our lakes and streams.  Best practice for boats\, trailers and gear is Drain\, Clean & Dry.  \nwww.wildlife.ca.gov/mussels\n866-440-9530 \nAdd Boat Inspections to your calendar \n \n
