DESCRIPTION:Join professional wildlife tracker and mountain lion researcher Phil Johnston on March 21 and learn to read the stories of wild animals through tracking. Phil has over a decade of experience teaching tracking and is certified as Senior Tracker through Tracker Certification North America. Come learn to identify the track and sign of the many charismatic creatures who make their living in the Eastern Sierra. \nLocation will be in the Bishop or Big Pine area. Exact meeting location will be emailed the Thursday before the workshop. \nRegistration Required. Register at https://eslt.org/event/wildlife-tracking-workshop-8/ \nAdults: $40. DESCRIPTION:The 21st Annual Backcountry Film Festival (BCFF) returns to Mammoth on January 31st\, 2026 at Mammoth Mountain’s Main Lodge\, bringing a celebration of human-powered adventure\, winter storytelling\, and public lands advocacy to our community. Join us for an evening of action packed and inspiring films\, an awesome raffle\, and popcorn and cookies. \nDoors open at 5:00pm and films start at 6:00pm\, come early for a drink and to check out tables featuring supporting businesses and local organizations. \nAll proceeds from Backcountry Film Festival go directly to supporting Eastern Sierra SnowSchool\, now in it’s 9th year of getting Inyo & Mono 5th graders out into the mountains and learning about winter ecology and snow science.

All proceeds from ticket sales and beer sales will go directly to these programs. Tickets are only: \n$18 ($20 at the door) for Sierra Forever members\, and\n$20 ($25 at the door) for non-members. \nDoors open at 6:30pm and films start at 7:00pm.

Join us on one of our FREE Wildflower Walks this summer to learn more about the flowers found in the High Sierra \nWhen: Friday\, August 22\, 8:00am – 11:00am\nWhere: Meet at the Mosquito Flats trailhead kiosk\nWhat: Out and back hike is about 3 miles long with minimal elevation gain\, but be mindful that the trail does start at 10\,000 feet in elevation. \nAll ages are welcome on all of our hikes\, but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nWe recommend dressing in weather appropriate layers\, having sun protection such as hats and sunglasses\, wearing comfortable walking/hiking shoes\, and bringing a small pack with water and snacks. \nSpace is limited! Come learn to identify the track and sign of the many charismatic creatures who make their living in the Eastern Sierra. Location will be in the Mammoth area.
