Amargosa Opera House and Hotel
At a remote, dusty intersection on the east side of Death Valley National Park at Death Valley Junction, there is a long, low, white building that was transformed into an oasis for dance, theatre, and entertainment. It is the Amargosa Opera House and Hotel. It was the life’s work of one woman, Marta Beckett. She created a stage, literally and figuratively, where she could perform her extensive repertoire of ballet and pantomime to an audience of living, breathing people and a silent audience of Renaissance people that she painstakingly painted on the walls of her Opera House.
The low adobe style complex contains a hotel, open year-round, and a café open seasonally during winter.
