Manzanar National Historic Site’s Public Archeology Program

Manzanar National Historic Site’s award-winning public archeology program is returning with three projects this year. On March 24-29, May 27-31, and September 2-6, volunteers will have the opportunity to assist the National Park Service in uncovering and preserving Manzanar’s Hospital area, the Children’s Village orphanage, and the Administration and Staff Housing area.  Work at the Hospital will include rebuilding a collapsed rock wall, removing brush and dead trees, clearing flood deposits, resetting building footers, and excavating landscaping features. Owens Valley Cruisers Fall Colors Car Show

Bishop City Park 700 N. Main Street, Bishop, CA

Take a drive to the spectacular Owens Valley to join us at the Bishop City Park for the annual Fall Colors Car Show.  You can register Friday evening and socialize, or register Saturday morning at the show - no pre-registration required.  Follow the signs from Main Street.  Friday evening - music and food trucks. Saturday morning - car show with a Lions Club pancake breakfast available. Cost of entry $40, judging by Owens Valley Cruisers, awards at 3pm on Saturday. Cardinal Village Tree Sale & Christmas Fun

Fresh cut Noble Pine Christmas Trees at great prices will go on sale after Thanksgiving. Trees will be for sale every Friday to Sunday after that until the weekend before Christmas. When the trees are selling the General Store is open and Gingerbread Cafe will be serving soups, cinnamon rolls and other goodies from 10-3. Santa will be with at Cardinal Village from 11am-3pm on Saturdays and 2:30-5:00pm on Sundays. There is also free ice skating. You can bring your own skates, or borrow from the resort.
