Everyone Becomes an Artist when they meet the Sierra by Bishop

Mountain peak under a clear blue sky with a crescent moon, surrounded by trees with vibrant yellow and green foliage, reminiscent of the serene landscapes near Bishop, California. visit bishop

Nearly four hundred miles long, the Sierra Nevada is bursting at the seams with scenery. Hundreds of shimmering alpine lakes. Razor-sharp ridgelines. Giant pines that seem to reach the sky. Some places will touch people’s souls more than others, but there is one region in the Sierra that will guarantee to spark creativity deep in your soul… and that’s the Eastern Sierra section by Bishop.

The Eastern Sierra: A Photographer’s Dream Destination

Lots of locales, it’s challenging to get a great photo. Be it the weather, the landscape, or even the light. Bishop and the Sierra are one of the rare places on Earth where everything aligns to create a dramatic scene for photography. The Sierra ridgeline abruptly rising from the Owens Valley, nearly ten thousand feet. The sunrise painting the granite peaks in alpenglow. And despite the state of California being the most populous in the nation, the rugged range provides a natural barrier from the light pollution of the cities to make it one of the best for night photography as well.

Like A Lightning Bolt

I can’t tell you where or when, but I will tell you that on your adventures in Bishop, there will be a moment that hits you like a bolt of lightning. The scene will unfold in front of you like a canvas. The colors, the smells, and the sounds. When it hits, you’ll want to stop and capture that moment. To create something from what Mother Nature has provided you on that day and at that second. To me, this was the moment at Blue Lake. It was unlike any I’ve had before in my life.

If you are on the path to buy a real camera or already own one, Bishop is THE place to base yourself for a photo safari. Don’t believe us? As the old saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words”, and here’s a few to get you inspired for that next trip. Who knows, this might be the step forward for you to become the next Ansel Adams.
