Where would you like to go today?

Bishop’s central location, halfway between Death Valley and Yosemite National Parks, within the extraordinary Eastern Sierra makes it a perfect base for relaxation and exploration.

Downtown Bishop is a quintessential western American mountain town with an old-fashioned Main Street and new-world facilities. This welcoming, walkable town offers a delightful mix of lodging, dining, shopping, and entertainment, while serving as a gateway to experience the spectacular Eastern Sierra.

One of the best ways to get to know this region is to do the Eastern Sierra Tour. It’s a curated journey of the most remarkable sights in the region.

Get a closer look at what makes this area unique. Take a trip up Bishop Creek Canyon, one of the biggest and best playgrounds in our beautiful big backyard. It has one of the most magnificent fall color experiences in all of California.

Explore the Big Pine Lakes Region, sometimes called the Patagonia of California. Hike the Big Pine Creek North Fork Trail, it’s considered one of the most beautiful hikes in the country.

Visit the Ancient Bristlecone Pines, the oldest living non-clonal organisms on the planet. The oldest known tree, Methuselah, has a verified age of almost 5,000-years old. Find out why they are known as the trees that rewrote history.

Go to the lowest point on the north American continent, 282-feet below sea level, at Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, then see the highest point in the contiguous U.S.A., Mt. Whitney at 14,505-feet elevation. The distance between them is just 135-miles by road.

Visit some of the many outdoor attractions where the evidence of our natural history is strikingly obvious and interesting.

The Eastern Sierra is still wild and diverse with an abundance of spectacular places to see and things to do.
