Classic Cars And Fall Foliage – Take In ALL The Colors
Fall in Bishop is a time to take in Mother Nature’s autumnal swatch panel. All the crimson reds, canary yellows, and sepia browns. A showcase that’s arguably one of the best in the Western United States. It’s also when Owens Valley hosts the Fall Colors Car Show, showcasing the rich colorful tapestry offered by companies such as Chrysler, Pontiac, and Buick. Names like Hugger Orange, Saturn Yellow, Sassy Grass Green, and Plum Crazy. Come for the fall colors and stay for the Detroit muscle.
Classic Cars In A Classic Town
There couldn’t be a more perfect town to host a classic car show. For many, classic cars represent a different era in history and evoke memories of childhood or past vacations. And similar to classic cars, Bishop is a living time capsule where the character and charm remain preserved. This is your chance to relive memories by taking in the car show while enjoying a big slice of small-town Americana. On Friday October 6th from 4pm – 7pm, live music and food trucks will fill the Bishop City Park. Then, October 7th is the official car show with judging by Owens Valley Cruisers and awards ceremony at 3pm at the park gazebo.
High Country Cruise Before It’s Too Late
Bishop’s big backyard is filled with a multitude of places to take in the colors. By this time of year, you should make it a point to head into the high country before the 1st snowfall arrives. One of our favorite classic scenic drives is up Bishop Creek Canyon to take in autumn’s fireworks. The highlighter yellow Aspens flood the valley in places surrounding water such as Cardinal Village and Intake II Loop. The colors contrast sharply against the sheer magnitude of the surrounding crags. And due to its high elevation, it’s also one of the first to change colors around the autumnal equinox.
