Waterfalls of the Eastern Sierra

Waterfalls of the Eastern Sierra

The sound and scene of flowing water, particularly when it’s falling over a rocky cliff or cascading down a rocky chute, instills a sense of wonder and peace. We’ve created an extensive guide to show where each of the noteworthy falls is located and how best to see, photograph, and get near them. Some of our beautiful falls can be seen from vista points along mountain roads that will take you well into the alpine and sub-alpine regions of the Sierra Nevada. Many more can only be seen from hiking trails within our national forest and wilderness areas. A visit to a wild and scenic waterfall in the Sierra Nevada is an extraordinary experience.

Fall Colors According to a Local Teen

Fall Colors According to a Local Teen

We walked about half of a mile on a dusty dirt road before we even stepped onto the trailhead. Upon entering the trail, I instantaneously felt a sense of wonder. There was a blanket of yellow leaves on the trail, guiding the way. Aspen trees gently encompassed our path, and the faint sound of a trickling stream was audible. In a single file line, we started our trek to the lake.

Stargazing in the Eastern Sierra

Stargazing in the Eastern Sierra

Did you know that there are countless children and adults who have never seen the Milky Way? Experts say that 80% of North Americans can no longer see the Milky Way from where they live due to light pollution.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to see, at least once in a lifetime, the amazing spectacle of the Milky Way and an intensely sparkling, starry night sky.

The heart of the Eastern Sierra is perfectly situated for a brilliant night sky experience. Take a look at our interactive night sky page and plan your trip now.
