China Lake Museum

This is rocket science. Located on the grounds of the Naval Air Weapons Station in China Lake, the China Lake Museum is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in naval air and surface armament and technology. The China Lake Museum Foundation shares this history with the public and encourages curiosity in science and technology through its rocket scientist, and other science programs, with youngsters.

The museum features a vast collection of artifacts, photographs, and exhibits that tell the story of the base and its role in national defense. One highlight of the museum’s collection is the only remaining prototype of the Grumman F11-1F Super Tiger, a supersonic, single-seat carrier-based United States Navy fighter. Visitors can also explore the museum’s many other exhibits, which cover topics such as the history of the base, the role of China Lake in the Cold War, and the development of cutting-edge military technologies.
