Friday Night Markets

Eastern Sierra Artists and the City of Bishop are bringing back the very popular Friday Night Markets this summer in Downtown Bishop, located on Academy Street, between Main Street and Warren Street. New dates are July 8 & 29, Aug. 19, Sept. 9 & 30 from 5:30-9pm. This free event also features live music and lots of local craftspeople, artisans, products of the region, food booths, beer/cocktails, local produce, farmer's market and fun for the whole family! COSA Monthly Bird Walk

Bishop, CA

The COSA bird walk is an easy walk around the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Conservation Open Space Area (COSA, behind the Forest Service building.) The walks are held the second Saturday of every month. October to May walks start at 8:30 am, and from June to September at 7:30 am. Meet behind the U.S. Forest Service/Bureau of Land Management building (351 Pacu Lane, Bishop). A limited supply of binoculars are available.

Manzanar National Historic Site’s Public Archeology Program

Manzanar National Historic Site’s award-winning public archeology program is returning with three projects this year. On March 24-29, May 27-31, and September 2-6, volunteers will have the opportunity to assist the National Park Service in uncovering and preserving Manzanar’s Hospital area, the Children’s Village orphanage, and the Administration and Staff Housing area.  Work at the Hospital will include rebuilding a collapsed rock wall, removing brush and dead trees, clearing flood deposits, resetting building footers, and excavating landscaping features. Manzanar Pilgrimage

Join this annual event virtually to commemorate the memory of Manzanar and its incarcerees. Lessons Learned, is the theme for the 53rd Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage, which will be held online on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 12:00 PM. The 2022 Manzanar At Dusk program will also be held online in the hours following the 53rd Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage. Manzanar was the first of the American concentration camps in which more than 120,000 Japanese Americans and their immigrant parents were unjustly incarcerated during World War II.

Big Pine Easter Egg Hunt

Big Pine Civic Club will host the annual community Easter Egg Hunt in Mendenhall Park at 12 Noon. Over one thousand eggs for the hunt, special golden eggs and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

1872 Earthquake Rememberance

Bishop, CA

Join Eastern California Museum at the Gravesite of the 1872 Lone Pine Earthquake Victims, located on the west side of Highway 395 one mile north of Lone Pine. This will be an historical remembrance of the great Lone Pine Earthquake of 1872 that struck the Eastern Sierra impacting lives, property and landscapes.
